This Privacy Policy applies to Pet Company Auckland Ltd (trading as Pet Company).
We respect the privacy of individuals by treating all personal information as confidential and by handling it in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (the "Act"). This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, shared, and protected, how you can access information if you wish, how you can complain if you are not satisfied with our policies and processes when you visit or make a booking / Purchase from our website https://www.petcompany.co.nz (the “Site”) and when you make a booking / Purchase via email - info@petcompany.co.nz (the “Email”).

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We refer to this information as “Booking Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Booking Information.
HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We use the Booking Information that we collect to fulfil any bookings / orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order/booking confirmations). Additionally, we use this Information: to provide customer support; to carry out or respond to your inquiry, to seek your feedback in relation to customer satisfaction and when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services; to communicate with you and our third party service providers; to include in a database compiled by us or our third-party; to assess whether we can provide you (or associated persons) with our products or services; for credit assessment and collections purposes; to confirm and verify your identity and other information; to perform other operational functions and activities associated with managing our relationship with you including internal administration, account management, product or service development, compliance audits/reviews, and complaints management; to regulatory reporting and compliance with our legal obligations; promote our pet sitting services and other related products; to conduct research and statistical analysis (on an anonymised basis); inn connection with defending, protecting and/or enforcing our legal rights and interests including defending a complaint, claim or other action; provide you with, or to manage any of, our facilities, website, products, or services; Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; facilitate and process your booking/order, facilitate and process your invoice; for any other purpose permitted by the Act.
If you choose not to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to provide the information, goods or the service you may require, or to fulfil one or more other purposes of collection of your personal information.
Pet Company works with staff to provide top class services across New Zealand. These staff members act on behalf of Pet Company and have agreed not to use any personal information about clients provided to them for any purpose other than the specific engagement on behalf of Pet Company. Whilst personal information may be provided to these staff to enable them to perform their tasks, such information at all times remains the property of Pet Company.
We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimise our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns.

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Beside our staff We share your Personal Information with: Third party pet sitting software; any businesses that support provision of our services (e.g. computer systems consultants, document custodians, mailing houses, lawyers, accountants, electronic identity verification providers etc) to enable them to perform those services; any person authorised by you (including referees, employers, contractors, accountants, secondary contact person); Credit reporters; debt collection agencies; insurance company; companies to which we are related; government authorities and regulatory bodies, as required by law only; and any other person authorised by the Act or another law.

A business that supports provision of our services may be located outside New Zealand. This may mean that personal information is held and processed outside New Zealand. Where information is provided to our service providers outside New Zealand, we require them to comply with our information management policies and procedures so your information has the same protections as if managed in New Zealand.
As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. Please let us know if you wish to opt out. If you choose not to enter the name, address, or phone number, we'll be unable to provide our services.
We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Pet Company and our staff take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information where it is no longer required and to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, loss, misuse and alteration.
UNSOLICITED PERSONAL INFORMATION
When we receive unsolicited information about you, we will destroy or de-identify un-relevant information and only retain the unsolicited information we are required or entitled to collect. When we do this, we will hold the unsolicited information the same way we keep your other personal information.

DATA RETENTION

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.
